On the other hand, I don't know how surround/surround assignment is coming with Reaper, or even if it's coming, so. Which seems pretty clunky, and it looks like it's the same in 3.0? Reaper is solid.ģ) The surround implementation in Audition kept me away - I gambled that Reaper would be surround capable before I start my new projects, because I didn't want to commit to how they do surround.

I used CEP because I liked the workflow, but it bombed on me so many times I was looking elsewhere - I don't know how much legacy code is in there, but. I'm not sure they'll get that right, either. I like what I would imagine appears to be a color-coded frequency dependent wave display, it looks striking but it also tells a lot about a track, some other "progressive" things.ġ) Does it sound as good as Reaper? I dunno, I don't see any blurbs about a 64bit path, and even if it is I'm not sure it would be implemented properly?Ģ) How buggy/responsive is it? I've come to trust Reaper a good bit, moreso than CEP I definitely prefer a crisp response combined with solidity. I see a number of FR's I wanted implemented in there. I like how it appears they've continued to move forward with some things I'd say they've been peeking in here a good bit, actually. I like the clean control set, and the non-busy non-crowded panels. There was always a few things that were inferior/outdated IMO about CEP, and it looks like they've addressed that - that's pretty intriguing. I think Reaper sounds better, though, and while I prefer CEP's on-channel eq control-ability (ahem), Reaper's e.q. I still prefer a lot of things about it, I think it's very well thought out in basic principles. Behavior probably related to not doing ASIO. I made the switch from CEP 1.5/Audition mainly because it was always pretty unpredictable how it was going to behave. And of course, there is all the great support here, the price, the community, etc. Perhaps if AA had this, I might have learned more about its capabilites. The other things are the ease with which one can just sit and go through the user guide like it were a great big user-friendly tutorial. in Patchmix to properly monitor the incoming signal. when recording vocals, you have to do all kinds of re-routing/adding ASIO channeles, etc. Playback is sent to ASIO in Patchmix, and so is the input. For some reason, AA 2.0 cannot properly monitor tracking through EMU ASIO. AA could not make use of Antares Auto-Tune 5's "sync-to-host" feature, because AA does not send timing information to it's vst plug-ins. It takes AA 2.0 up to 10-20 seconds to open. I only have a 1.7 GHz computer with 1.25 GB of RAM.Ĥ.

A blank project in AA eats up 10 times the memory (226,770K compared to Reaper's 20,688). For some reason, AA could not record my E-mu Dock A and Dock B inputs simultaneously for stereo recording without having to do all sorts of stuff within the Patchmix program. The biggest reasons were the first two:ģ. Personally I always found AA a pretty good wave editor but a clumsy and awkward multitrack recorder. The band is complimentary, in sync and just as the old Dead lime-up used to master, THESE GUYS KNOW WHEN TO QUIT SINGING AND KEEP JAMMING.Maybe you'd care to enlighten us as to what those reasons were? :)

EYES alone would have been worth the price of admission. ALL I NEED TO TELL READERS IS TO LISTEN TO EYES, CASSIDY, DARK STAR AND COMES A TIME from 2-26-18. ALL that being said, I went into the 2-26-18 show in Sunrise (Miami) with an open mind as I had not heard Dead and Co much. I also love a couple specific shows after the 89 year, namely 10-1-94 (so truly unbelievable) and 10-14-94 (very very well done) as incredible shows later on. My fave is 77-78 followed by 71-74, then 1989 + or - a few months. My bike rides are WONDERFUL! Needless to say I’ve heard the shows from the early days from 1966-71, the 71-74 period, the 75-76 period, the 77-78 period and every period after those.! I LOVE ALL the Dead era’s and like most Heads I have my preferences. On Staurday mornings I listen to a different show in its entirety as I cycle a 40-60 mile route in beautiful South Florida.
